That song

That song

Remembering times long gone
Made present by the words of a song
Feeling the nostalgic energy jolt through your veins
Remembering you meant to forget the pain
Your heart breaking steadily
You've left the realm of sanity
You nearly start to cry
But hold it in to your surprise
You lay down and try to omit it, forget it
Deny you had even thought about it
At the root of humanity lies heartache
It's only natural to make a mistake
It's in our blood to fail, hidden in the genetic structure
A sharp pike that made a puncture
And it leaves a wound to deep to heal
Said and sealed
A done deal
You can't help but miss someone
When all is said and done
And those times have come and gone
And you relive it all when you hear that song
