That Which Is Passed

He cannot undo that which has passed,Β
Though every day, every hour he might
Wish it were so. That which remains
Is just what he has, of this much he is sure
And that is all that he knows. The past a balloon
Let go with a tear, the future uncertain
Fills him with fear. Easy to advise him
To take stock, be strong...hard to forget
Her he loves, her he wronged.
Easy to shed those tears of self pity,
Not so simple to get on with life's nitty gritty.
A sad heart weighs heavy, takes its toll on the rest,
He'll just have to keep going, no other choice left.
