~ THE ADDICTED POET ~

~ THE ADDICTED POET ~

No liar, no chain smoker, no drinker or thief
Would ever compare the steely temperament
'twixt heretic or wordsmith when begging relief
It is more than difficult to break old habits seen
For all light and love is everlasting in beauty be...

'Tis an honor to sculpt the picturesque
A blissful joy in conveying love's company
An education in delving deep into one's darkness
Where truth unfurled reflects all humanity
There is an otherworldly momentum in wielding words
Once started, knows no end, to the author's creativity
For without his love of self expression
Without this sacred fountain from whence intention
Flows and grows into pages and pages of pure poetry
The addicted poet would spiral into the architectural abyss
Never knowing across which page, or alleyway wall
His words, his thoughts, his blood, would be splattered
If, at all...

Tony, I am humbled by your creativity, but more importantly sadden by what I know to be the ‘back story’ behind it all. Poetry has a way to lift our spirit yet pierce our soul. I lost my best friend this past January as the result of his alcohol addiction. I have feared to write about him as I don’t know if I can get through the pain, but I realize now that I somehow must, as that is what he would have wanted... I know that now based on your poetic way of “telling the story.” Thank you for this, as I will write when my inspiration hits...

take care,

Terrence

Thanks TERRENCE!!...... Yeah, I guess it is a pretty common tale...... the faces and the times change..... but it is VERY personal pain that we who survive our friend's or relative's death experience.... and of course we all grieve differently.  For me it wasn't the drugs or alcohol it was just that he was so damn creative and left before he really had. A chance!!........I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment brother!!........ stay groovy!!........ talk again.......T xo ?✴❤
