The Agony Of True Hunger

To go without a stomach sated
Is a pain that hits in a different kind of place
It hits you in the face when you realize
The refrigerator is empty
With only a couple of dollars to your name
And a stale slice of white bread in the pantry
Money doesn't buy happiness, but it does
Feed the hungry that are dying for sustenance
As you search the furniture frantically
For more change to buy a few groceries at Dollar Tree
Before your stomach that is roaring
like Vesuvius in 79 AD
Climbs up your throat from desperation
As your muscles start to weaken from the lack of food
The pain in your gut makes you want to cry
As you search for every last dime
Hoping to end this difficult week
With at least something substantial to eat.

K.G Munro you know how to write so poignantly, hard hitting and currently.
For currently here we all are in the 21st century and the scourge of hunger is still rampant world wide.
Here in the U.K 30% of children (4.2 million) live in households below the poverty line.
God knows how many for other 'modern' countries let alone the third world ones.
A great and much needed sign of our times write and one to make a reader think and take stock of the lives of others.
Thank you for telling how it alas is and full honours for doing so.

I can't thank you enough for your kind words <3 the level of hunger and deprivation we are seeing in all western countries right now is insane. Parents unable to afford even baby formula in the UK, and yet we can waste millions going to space or on failed vanity projects that do nothing for anyone.Β

Yes you said it! There's rumblings here in the U.K about not giving India the annual 240 million in aid for their people, for they blow it on their Lunacy moon probe.
Will will ever learn now or from history ... it appears not.

It doesn’t make sense giving money to other countries when your own people are suffering. History is a reminder not a warning sadly.Β

Hello K.G.

Most leaders are cut out of the same cloth...

They don't seem they mind if the Moths get it first or they take the sloppy seconds......

Here it seems people don't care as long as there's Welfare and Food Banks...

People get really upset if they have to work...

They prefer most things illegal too...

Unless, it takes something away from them...

Great write!

Thank you for sharing...

Hey Friend,

The irony of it all, the same people that have caused recessions are the ones that are claiming expenses from the public purse. Thank you, and all we can do is find ways to navigate the insanity of it all.

Let me know how you can actually do that and how it works out for you?

Our problem are the voters...

They like this kind of stuff...

The crazier the better...

The poorer the better...

The more destruction...

The better...
