The Arrival Of Winter

A inquisitive child laughed
face pressed against a newly frosted window
Cold panes of glass
the only thing that stood between the fire's embers and a sky about to break with snow
Towering trees witnessing the piercing Siberian Air
A thin frost plants itself by the riverside
Bare gardens yield little resistant
Pine-trees shivering gently in the cool breeze
Cloud formation descend
Stars and moon hide from the winters glow
Couples lay buried beneath the sheets, toasting their bodies
The smell of firewood oozing through the chimney
Folks gawk into their fires hours on end
Peace emerges through the silence of the evening

Thank you Cherie!
Hi Keith this is such a beautifully descriptive piece of work- loving the imagery and the seemless flow throughout. Artfully crafted and a joy to read! Lovely! xxx
