The Artist
To an artist seen in the Lamb and Flag in Oxford.
She sat in all
her overcoat and
all her beauty,
planning her masterpiece
of bleeding hearts,
upon landscapes ofĀ
oceans under skies
of lantern moons and stars.
Crafted reflections of
memories in theĀ
mindĀ“s seas of time,
etched for a brief
moments escape
for those that would see
beyond the strokes of fate.
Her graceful, elegant fingers
a slender maidenĀ“s waist,
dance for all the beauties
of loveĀ“s flowers,
upon the scrape of paper voids
and raw slate.
Her feathered quill takes flight
dipping into the pool
of black night,
to weave layers of colours
clad in fine silk,
flowing free to soften
the heartĀ“s bitter shades
of dark light.
