THE ARTISTS

THE ARTISTS

Monet welcomed us all to his beautiful garden,
it was so nice that we couldn't wait to come again,
Renoir preferred to paint the naked female form,
pristine, untouched, the same as when you were born.

Gauguin strutted around eyeing Renoir superstitiously,
thought that his work was better after visiting Tahiti,
Dali wriggled his waxed moustache, slapped his knees,
wondered if he could paint these plants at forty five degrees.

Van Gogh listened to nature but one ear was missing,
sunflowers smiled at him - I'll paint them without pausing,
Da Vinci carried a smile under his arm for ten years,
he knew that he was more than a match for all his peers.

I achieved beauty by accident when I had a canvas,
it was serendipity which gave you to me at long last.
