The Australian Dream (based on speech by Stan Grant)

We love our sunburnt country
Our land
Its beauty
People were shot on our land
People who deserved more
The Australian Dream

Our dream is rooted in racism
It waits for us
Like an abandoned dog tied to a pole
A dog waiting to hurt others
Destroy others
The Australian Dream

We hear a howl
A howl of discrimination
A howl that shatters their souls
The Australian Dream

We stare at them
We judge them
We destroy our reputation
The Australian Dream

Why do we destroy this dream?
Why do we kill our country?
We are better than that!
The Australian Dream

The people who alienate them
They are better than that!
The people who decide racism is permitted
They are better than that!

Even the people who don’t fight, don’t try
They are better than that!

We are all better than that
We can all change
We must all change
That, is the Australian Dream
