THE BASTARD LIGHT

He stands in the bastard light
Which illuminates
EVERYTHING

Chirpy and sparkling
BLINDING and CLEAN and
BRIGHT

ILLUMINATES his misery
And the SHAME
Of the misery

EXPOSES
The PAIN
Of the SHAME

And he longs to shade his eyes
From the
MAGNIFICENCE

That he sees
But does not
