The Beauties Of Ballet

The Beauties Of Ballet

I remember what my ex-wife told me, in the Fall of 1978 one day;
She had just joined the committee, and purchased Box Seats for the Cincinnati Ballet!
I cringed inside, thought how boring, two plus hours of drudgery;
Because I had never even been to one, yet I smiled, said “Fine with me”!
.
My night of angst came very quickly, with the Saturday Premiere;
I told her I was so excited, but was really full of drear!
We settled into our private balcony, I figured I would take a nap;
Then the curtain rose to majestic beauty, and the audience all clapped!
.
The moment that I saw them, those deftly dancing “Dames”;
Gently lifted by their male counterparts, I was amazed at their aplomb!
Then instantly, I became a lover, of this treasured form of dance;
With each performance I was more mesmerized, as my life was so enhanced!
.
And a most interesting dichotomy, followed several of the shows;
Members of the cast and all us patrons, partied at a posh disco!
The girls all let their hair down, and busted moves out on the floor;
I thought that I’d found paradise, for so many of them I adored!
.
.
                                   Dragged to Ballet
                               I fell so quickly in love
                             With dance and dancers
