The Big and Mighty Tree

I have been here
In this spot
For a very long time
From a seedling
To the mighty and strong
Lingering old man
You see here
Time flowed by
Changing as it should
As I fell to the ground
Set seed
And grew
Many things I have witnessed
In this spot
It is a good place to be
Scenes have evolved
People have passed by
All have changed
Even I
Who else but me
And my family
Can witness the world
And not tell
What we see
We do not speak
We do not write down what we see
We just observe
We do not rush
Why would we need to?
Buildings went up as I was a little sprog
They came down in my teens
Even the fashions changed
Life has so many ways to be lived
It seems
My girth has caused me much attention
They come and pat me occasionally
In the sixties they even hugged me
Now they just ignore me
They rush so much
No one sees me
But I see all around
And wonder who will replace
Those that I now see
I am alone here
They cleared out most of my family years ago
Turned into the houses that surround me
Even nature was not always favourable
Many of my branches now fertilise
And help to sustain me
One day I will be no more
I would have lived and then died
Yet I am grateful of
All I have and will see

Evrod, this is very well done, my friend, good tempo with lots of spirited imagery a very clever point of view to write from, I like the subject matter an ode to the eyes, ears of a tree, I enjoyed ready this....cheers, philosopher, good post...
