The Black Plague

Like a thief in the night it came, it spread
Tens of thousands sick and miserable
No one knew how or why
The disease killed so rapidly
Babies robbed of their chance at life
Some believed it was the end of times, a punishment
History's most intriguing disaster
Worse than any shipwreck or crash
No room to bury the dead
Too many to count or identify
Fear struck in everyone's mind
Torment and despair
The plague death had come
