The Boat Carries Her Name

A boat on the beach, shares a past,
Adventures made, memories cast
Years of toil sweat & paint,
He carries on without complaint,
Hardened hands on sanded hull,
Weathered face, tired frame,
Life's reflection lays no blame,
A life times work, by gifted hand,
A fondness crafted, on her sweet eyes lay,
Her friendship, her love, her spirit a guide,
For no other place he would rather reside,Â
His hardened hands on softened skin,
With closed eyes, a laboured grin,
Upon the hull his hands lay weary,
A life times work lies incomplete,
For on his work they set their scene,
To sale away, fulfill their dream,
A change in wind, of crippled fate,
For this dream would come too late,
Stormy skies clouds forsake
The fragile boat in tidal wake,
Winds howl, Crashing waves
Gripping on with all his might,
Let go he must for deaths in sight,
Taken from his loving arms,
She drifts off slowly, the sea it calms
Winds fall silent, clouds they clear,
His boat a remainder of all he held dear.
