THE BREAKFAST TABLE PANTOMIME

 
Every morning at the same time they both met
Kept far apart when the breakfast table was set
Sometimes they were handled and others not
I'm referring to the salt shaker and jam pot

The salt shaker made a cautious first move
Milk jug and sauce bottles didn't approve
Finally the salt shaker reached his spot
Looked at the jam decided she was hot

However the salt had one thing left to negotiate 
The spoon was close by as was a little plate
Then all of a sudden the jam pot was taken away
To another table she didn't hang about and stay

Poor salt shaker shook what a waste of time
All his efforts wasted at this breakfast pantomime 
Tomorrow morning he would try once more
Hoping the jam pot would stay around for sure
