The Broken Angel (inspired by the last Edgar Allen poem I read…)

The Broken Angel (inspired by the last Edgar Allen poem I read…)

Once I was taken to the deep end of demonic despair

Till an angel took me high above this earth’s hemisphere

Speaking in whispers, as we floated weightlessly in space

She fed me the sweetest words my mind could ever taste

Taught me how to laugh again, and to rise above the din

while I told her all my secrets; for so long I’d kept hidden

And like every mortal man who carries feelings in his breast

The possibility of ‘love’ with us, this to her, I did address

But deep within her eyes, I could only see confusion

I was afraid that I had stepped on some forbidden ground

Till she smiled and turned around, showing me her broken wing

and said, I would be the first to know, if ever she got whole again

Such a beautifully written piece, often the most tragic souls are drawn together it can create such a special kind of bond. I really enjoyed this :)

wow, thank you so much for saying those things, L Caizley, I'm touched, not 'humbled' no poet can ever be 'humble' at heart, else they would never post a single line; I could be totally wrong with that, lol....I'm honored you enjoyed, your work is amazing, cheers

This is so beautiful. The longing is potent and the heart is voiced.

The ending wrapped this masterpiece up perfectly.

Lovely ink.

Hi  Christopher I love your poem
two broken souls coming together
with maybe a possibility that love
could flourish once they healed
from passed hurt (just my thoughts )
Enjoyed a pleasure to read
Warmest wishes Debs

My Brother Poet Chris,

My sweet love Annabelle Lee

Proffer thy broken wing, that I may it fix

You have turned my bitter heart, into a love filled cavern

You've opened up my soul, to again feel love

Allow me to minister your puerile pain

Then together, shall we fly away to infinity

Peace and Love,

Larry xxx

Chris I see this as a hopeful optimistic piece of writing in a time of distress we need angels

poised beautifully like the mermaid on the rock

or a birth of a child - God bless Jai:)

Thanks for your reply to Sweet Sylph.
I just caught The Broken Angel poem.
Poetry falls from the sky on a quiet night like this.
Anyone can catch it in their hair, if they leave
their imagination open.
