The button on my brain?

The button on my brain ?

I love playing with words
Its something that I do
So thats why I write poetry
You need to try it too

It keeps my brain from seizing up
Thats one thing that I fear
Mam & Dad had dementia,Β  they were lost souls, Oh dear

Now I’m getting older
The odds are stacking high
For me to be like my parents
So I may stop that if I try

Prevent my mind from rusting up
To keep me very saneΒ
I go over rhymes & lyrics
Again & again

The only trouble is
I find it hard to rest
So when I’m in my bed
Thinking dittys is a pest

If my brain had a button
When I was tired It would beep
Then I could simply switch it off
Giving me a good nights sleep?
