The Caged Tygress

The Caged Tygress

Burning bars of snarling flames entwined
Ochre, amber, red (like blood) it glows
What escapes the blazing glare of those
Killer’s eyes: no trembling god designed?
In nightmare visions ~ blazing eyes confined
To dreamworlds; terrifying and morose
That roar, as soft and gentle as a rose
Yet gentler still: the fire of her mind.
Recondite ~ that mind of fire burns
A subtle conflagration of her dreams
Craving consummation beyond the bars
Her strange, unfettered nature (fettered) turns
Elusive as the course of astral streams
Like Taurus in a night of burning stars.

Thank you, Amber.
That means a lot coming from a poet whose work I respect and enjoy very much.

And I had a lot of fun last night with your little jamming session. We should do it again sometime.
[In fact, it feels odd writing to you in prose now!!]

A very Happy New Year to you. Next time you have a jamming session...I'll bring the spondees!!
