The common enemy

The common enemy

Out this monster must be driven
for forcing us onto our knees
for trying to darken every light
let's drive this monster to the seas.

The invisible, silent, virulent oppressor
for trying to usurp our natural state
must never win despite our struggle
no matter how long we have to wait.

Let's cast this despot from the earth
which threatens all that we hold dear
for trying to confine us to the shadows
we have each other so let's not fear.

The silent serpent will be slain
for in its gaze we cannot rest
though we fall we shall keep rising
the fiery trial brings out our best.
