The Difference

I’m different than you, you’re different from me.

We’re not always who we want to be.

Many of us hope, we live, we dream;

And lots of us fill our lives with seams.

It’s hard to be different today,

You're supposed to follow only one way.

The crowd will try to pick you apart,

And it will only happen, right at the start.

Your own doubts will try to sway you one way,

And it’s up to you to say, no way.

Many are shattered, many are broken,

All of them lose that one special token.

A token of kindness, gratitude, a smile;

It all seems to keep them aloft for a while.

The difference between all of us, it really seems;

Only some of us hold on to our dreams
