Poem -

The edge of my world

The edge of my world

I walked to to water today.
An unintended journey.
But a needed one all the same.

As I walked the gales gained ferocity.
They pushed against me.
Driving back my desire to reach the waters edge.

As I fought forward
My mind; divided and distracted
Came to a momentary sadness
The worst part about the shore
Is it’s significance in ending the walk to the water.

It’s with each stride I neatly fold and stack my feelings.
And as the wind reminds me
That every step is earned
My heart is able to pack away my rainy days.

With weary legs I feel the water kiss my face
Reminiscent of those hands I’ve held
And the hearts hidden in my chest.
And am again reminded that one must soldier on

As the tide wages it’s eternal war with the rocks at the shore line
I’m gifted with a strong wind to lean on
And cool water to wash away my sins

And it’s with this walk to the water
I lay Baptized anew
And as I turn to leave the winds embrace me and push me forward into a life I can tarnish but slightly less .

I walked to the water today.
