The Eyes Betray The Soul

The Eyes Betray The Soul

Wonder and laughter in squeals of delight
A child sees the world as a magical sight
Eyes all crinkled with joy that insist
All the world's hurts can be healed with a kiss

These eyes are the window to my soul
The old sayings tell us it is so
Read my story if you care
In my eyes you will see all that I dare

By sweet 16 I cannot cease to dream
In my secrets and hopes you must see me beam
Collage and life I see just ahead
There is nothing in time that yet I dread

These eyes are the window to my soul
The old sayings tell us it is so
Read my story if you care
In my eyes you will see all that I dare

In my 30's and 40's this time seems so boring
The dreams fade away to be lost in the roaring
Of bosses erratic and colleagues of plastic
The lost inner child can still dream fantastic

These eyes are the window to my soul
The old sayings tell us it is so
Read my story if you care
In my eyes you will see all that I dare

Friends come and go as I alter this show
From out of despair and to freedom I go
In a distant land I have found my soul
Scotland is calling and to her I must go

These eyes are the window to my soul
The old sayings tell us it is so
Read my story if you care
In my eyes you will see all that I dare

Tarnished of soul yet a light may still shine
I regain who I am through music sublime
To Scotland again in delight I do find
A soul like mine we are clearly aligned

These eyes are the window to my soul
The old sayings tell us it is so
Read my story if you care
In my eyes you will see all that I dare

Romancing and Chivalry my knight is a courting
At last I have found my soul mate so supporting
I pour out the love I had stockpiled and bottled
He tells me I have found an ancient MacDonald

These eyes are the window to my soul
The old sayings tell us it is so
Read my story if you care
In my eyes you will see all that I dare

My eyes have changed and gleam with delight
His friends say his have a twinkle so bright
Love finds its way to our very doors
It has shaken us both to our very cores

These eyes are the window to my soul
The old sayings tell us it is so
Read my story if you care
In my eyes you will see all that I dare

As the sun is setting on our lives with new meaning
A portent tells us that fate's been intervening
On Scotland's fair soil shall we never part
This love is forever and it now beats with one heart

These eyes are the window to my soul
The old sayings tell us it is so
Read my story if you care
In my eyes you will see all that I dare
