Gives Him Life And Death

A quiet working man
Wearing blisters on bare hands
Walking with a severe limp
And winces when he stands
Years of meditationΒ
To try and ease his back pain
Nearly a lifetime of surviving
Has had a negative impact on his brain
He struggles with his hearing
From the constant factory noise
His own life sacrificed
To create a home for his boys
Each one of his major senses
Have been slowly dying
But he's determined not to give in
He refuses, to stop tryingΒ
For his way of life
Has provided him a living
But it is shoving him towards death
And that's not so forgiving
Despite all the hardships
He would be lost if he stopped tomorrowΒ
But when you look deep into his eyes
He cannot hide the obvious sorrow

Thank you Cherie!
I enjoyed reading this; it speaks of an honorable man who puts family first. But at the same time reveals the cost of his sacrifice. Great poem!Β
