Poem -

The fair fox

Floxie the fox was very disliked
He Prowled through the streets
All day and all night
Rummaging bins
outside of shops
shop keepers would yell
 'Oi floxie. Get foxed !'

He'd go in backyards
In gardens he'd veer
Snarling at anyone
Who'd dare to go near
people would scream
And they'd chant and they'd cheer
' Oi floxie ...go get the fox Out of here '

See my paws
I hold up two
I'm leaving now
fair fox to you

Floxie didn't mean anyone harm
He once lived as a pet
on a neighbouring farm
Until one day the farm cock met his fate
And Floxie the fox
Got shown the farm gate

But Floxie knew that the farmers wife
Had throttled the cock
And foxed up his life
Never the less Floxie went to the streets
Where he learnt to survive
standing on his four feet

See my paws
I hold up two
I'll show you all
Fair fox to you

From that day on
he was all on his own
Living off scraps
And bits of old bone
But as he awoke
At the crack of one day
A cock a doodle do
Came walking his way

It was big, full of feathers
A huge great big cock
He couldn't believe his own eyes
What foxing good luck
'Jeepers creepers' he said
Cock I thought you was dead
But the cock stood there proud
Just shaking his head

See my paws
I hold up two
big cock's alive
Fair fox to you

So tell me it all
How did you get away
And escape being made
Into cock stew that day ?
'Simple' he said
When my face went bright red
I just rolled up my eyes
To the back of my head
I let my wings drop
stuck my tongue from my beak
And my legs went all floppy
And terribly weak

Floxie's face filled with glee
his ears pricked up to the sky
And tears of pure joy
Trickled down from his eyes
We've got to get back
To the farmhouse right now
And show the poor farmer
He's married a cow

So on they both strolled
Across fields and down roads
About her firm grip on cock
The farmers wife was exposed
When the front door was answered
The truth was now out
And the farmer then banished
His wife from the house

See my paws
I hold up two
Fair fox to me
And fair fox to you
