THE FISHERMAN'S WORLD

Up before the sun risesÂ
Before the cock crows
Before the dawn yarnsÂ
His boat leaves the shore
While many sleep and slumber
He rows against the wind
He frowns at the waves before him
In search of the catch of the day
No rain can detour his spiritsÂ
He is not easily dismayedÂ
And as the sunlight skipsÂ
Across the watersÂ
He hums his song of the dayÂ
So deep the ocean floorÂ
And endless, its span is stretchedÂ
But its challenges his mind adoresÂ
And in the belly of the darknessÂ
He retrieves his catch.

One poem I can really relate too Wilford for my late uncle was a fisherman.
And you capture and convey it all all in your engaging imagery filled poem that like the sea flows.
Loved your lines,
'No rain can detour his spiritsÂ
He is not easily dismayedÂ
And as the sunlight skipsÂ
Across the watersÂ
He hums his song of the day '
For that was my uncle in a nutshell.
Nothing bothered or phased him.
Thanks for writing a superb narrative poem and thank you Wilford for the family memories.
All good.
Shaun..
The power of influence is a great thing.Â
For it is influence at times that creates desire. I have used the waterways, go fishing from an early age in Guyana 🇬🇾 South America where I was born.Â
started swimming with snakes and alligators around us as children..lol
But truth be told, I am not a big fan of rivers and seas. I love the Aeroplane. Guess it's my desire for speed.Â
But I was inspired by Jill's writing. How she can so easily write about any and everything with such easy.Â
the way she captures every little bit of detail on her canvas of poetry.Â
So I decided to take a shot at it.
I appreciate you.. I appreciate the well learned writers on Cosmofunnel that has helped me to tighten up my game.
