The Flight to Nowhere

Touching Down On Life

The Flight to Nowhere

I think this is my new favorite poem by me(even though it's not that good, could use some touch up paint. It's about the weariness of life, and the man's desire to be in that one place that brings him happiness, in love forever. Kind of in the vein of my favorite poem, Stopping By the Woods on a Snowy Evening by Frost(at least the way I see that poem, although some others may not see it that way. But that's the beauty of poetry, it can be interpreted many different ways). Thanks for reading. M.

Touching down at JFK,
The Gotham moon sits on the bay
Darkness sings a grievous song
And leads the lonely night along

I gather up my weathered bag,
Behind the wheel, lids start to drag
The tires, they moan a weary tune
Dying in this tin cocoon

Waking gently at the door,
I wonder what this fuss is for
Is this the marvel of this place,
The deepened lines upon my face?

I venture toward the land of dreams
An easy trip it never seems
So once again the journey ends
On sleepless path that never bends

And so I race the rats again,
Within this broken lion's den
And all the air within my sails,
To move my ship, forever fails

And yet I have a dream of you
A promise of a Heaven true
A wondrous land within your eyes
With nothing mortal in the skies.

Hello Matthew Z...

Welcome to Cosmo!

To live in a place that makes sense would be a good start?

No paint touch-up is needed to me...

Great write!

Thank you for sharing...

Thank you Sparrow!! You don't remember me from before, do you, young lady? It's Matthew. I would write some awful love poems, and some attempts at humor. How are you doing, my beautiful friend? Matthew.

Of course you are not hitting, you silly! Lol
You are wonderfully spontaneous. Refreshingly natural.
Just keep being yourself, Matthew.  B or Bee? Ah, just me.

Thank you, will do. And you do the same. People like you make it easy to be relaxed, and friendly. You're wonderful. Matthew.

Matthew for me these words touch deeply. It is about yearning for home. Sometimes this is a person or a place or something  perhaps ineffible... and also only you could make an aeroplane ride sound so bloody soulful... hugs x

Thank you Marionette, you’re far too kind! You could make the The Amish Constitution sound beautiful. I was trying to make his life seem long and arduous, and trying, but his one refuge be an undying love, in this life, or maybe the next.

You’re the greatest. Thank you.

Matthew.

Well nobody is going to know of you... you have to.read and comment on theirs... make friends my man lol... hugs x

Also... I have work with less likes and comments ...who cares
Best to write for the joy of it Matthew, if we set ourselves up for likes and votes ...we fail mostly.
And who cares of that either
Just write for the joy of it... there us so much freedom in that 💕

Being Me

Wow! This is a fabulous poem! It's brilliant. I love all the lines to pick out my favourite. The first verse is beautifully done.  Love the tin cocoon reference to a car!  Well written. It's a truly beautiful poem xx

I think we can enjoy the things in life that bring us contentment AND
still keep searching for meaning. This is a very contemplative writing, Matthew
well done. How have you been? so quiet lately. Warm wishes, B

Hi Bernie. Thank you so much, I always appreciate your beautiful words, they're so kind and warm.
I'm doing ok, how about yourself? I'm really busy with work, so I haven't had a lot of time to write, but I'll come up with some goofy poem soon enough.
What's going on in your world? Your last poem was gorgeous.

Lots of hugs,

M.

Wow Mathew, Roy Orbison eat your heart out,

I gather up my weathered bag,
Behind the wheel, lids start to drag
The tires, they moan a weary tune
Dying in this tin cocoon

Such a poetic way of creating the vision of a long heavy drive. Superbly done.  🌹

Shirley, you're amazing, thank you! That's the reason I finally liked one of my poems, because I was trying to convey the weariness of life, and the road, etc., and you nailed it. Thank you for making me feel like I could write something well. You're the best! M.
