THE GHOST TRAIN

We entered the tunnel and your face appeared,
nothing unusual but with no body attached was weird,
perhaps a warning when I crossed over to the other side,
now I was to be watched, loved, by a spiritual guide.

Spiders dropped on to my head and brushed my hair,
I didn't need this journey, all the fun of the fair,
we swung around corners, stopped at a showcase,
there was a picture of me when I was young - my face.

A ghostly wail and a demon laugh rent the air,
we stopped, the devil said: 'In your life, you don't care,'
I brushed sticky red liquid from my outstretched arm,
if this was a real train, I could pull the bloody alarm.

We burst out of the tunnel with you standing erectly,
I was thankful that your head was. now joined to your body.
