The Girl Who Stopped Believing in Dreams
Under the silver lustre of an aluminous pearl
She sits and lists her tears and fears
Soft wishes unfurl
That stack up to become heavy dreams
Which tip the stars from their anchors
Forcing their once subtle light
to forge heavy beams
Suppressing her soul, she retreats
Burying what she has left, inside a fractured heartbeat
No more tears shall she cry
In fear she would lose the sky
and all its wonderful stars might fall forever
She endeavours to fix a few
Gingerly attempting to climb the night sky and make anew
Her attempts prove futile
As each star she touches crumbles in her outstretched hands
Falling like sand
Lost in the land beneath
With each fallen star
Her heart staggers to beat
Forlorn and weary-eyed
She looks up at her sky
And convinces herself all this was meant to be
Her heart begins to fray
Believing she’s a girl whose dreams were never meant to see the light of day

Never ever give up on your dreams. Some want them to happen? Some wish they would happen but there are the ones that make them happen. You have a dream? Make it happen. Sometimes the paths that lead to it are heartbreaking and difficult..but when you realise your dreams that journey becomes soooo worth it. Follow your dreams x
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement, you are truly a lovely soul ?
thanks so much for reading and the like x
Gwendoline....love this write!
I an still waiting for "the dream to come to fruition"....living my life....going through whatever, and surviving...anticipating something better and never, ever giving up.

Thanks ever so much Val, I loved reading your comment today. I hope one day those dreams become a reality for you. May your life be one happy adventure. Thank you so much for reading this poem :)
Hold on to your dreams for they're all you've got to follow, never give up on them or ever lose sight too. Keep believing.
For a soul would become lost within itself and become tragically vacant.
A great and sad theme to ponder over Gwen and beautifully written too.
And love how there's no closure for this sad mite just left hanging there undetermined and unresolved.
Thanks Gwen and stay poetry blessed my friend.❤️😊.
