The hammer and the dance

The hammer and the dance

"Shall we dance?" I hear you ask
for the idle hammer sleeps
emerging on a sunny day
within a fearful world

"Take the lead" I hear you say
the hammer is done for now
as we gaze across an empty floor
so much left void by its work.

"Time for music" you exclaim
as silence slowly falls
remember all the joy before
as we salvage what we can

"Step forward" I hear you say
and cast the shackles off
let's twist and jive under a cloud
to herald a new resolve

"Hold me tight" you say to me
as the battle starts anew
euphony's sound declares a change
it's time to dance again.
