The hare & the mare?

Speedy gonzales stop running so fast
I thought I was in the lead
But you went whizzing past

This is not at all fair
You are like a march hare
Legs sturdy as a racehorse
I’m the spit of an old mare

You are bound to win
Your body is so thin
I’m not saying I am fat
But I’m not slim & thats that

Can’t you give me a head start
Perhaps a couple of laps or so
That would give me a better chance
If I had a little advance

You see I would love to tell my friend
Though she would think I was bluffing
But then she would believe me
Coz I’d be huffing & puffing

That I won you by a mile
I wouldn’t tell her bout our deal
That is not my style
I’m not bothered how you feel

She would look at you & think
Well that is one for the books
I thought that race was yours
Shows never to go by the looks

Haha is this okay with you
If you don’t tell her I’d be happy
Can I bribe a pint or two
Thanking you kindly decent chappy
