The Hospice

The Hospice

When you love your doggie so very dearly, you can’t see the pain that’s in their eyes;
They slow down to just a soft walk, but with their years, it’s no surprise!
They sleep so many hours, but again, you think it’s just old age;
For sometimes they have an energy burst, so hard, their health to gauge!
.
The Vets will listen to their heartbeats, and check around their gums;
They say “Your dog is getting older, you’ll know when that time comes”!
But hope forever surrounds you, that they’ll live for extra years;
Not able to see the reality, because you’re blinded by all your fears!
.
So it was with our precious Cody, in the last weeks of his life;
We could not feel all of his suffering, we could not see all of his strife!
Our home had become his hospice, overlooked by all our love;
Unaware that he was getting so close, to his Heaven’s trip Above!
.
But then there came that Saddest Saturday, when reality woke us up;
It was time for us to say goodbye, to our Beloved little Pup!
A part of us too died with him, as he took his final breath;
So beautiful while he was living, so beautiful now in death!
.
.
                    True love can blind you
                       Refusing to realize
                 Your Soulmate must leave
.
This priceless photograph of Cody standing on Nico’s back, was taken on a Family shopping day at The Home Depot.

Love makes you hopeful. Wishing that the end would never come. It's heart-rending when the end comes 'cos you've been blinded all along.

Lots of love

Our Dear Sweet Rose,

It is so difficult when it comes, for, it is not the "end", but the beginning of everlasting pain and mourning.

All our love,

We had two dogs,one a comedian the other one shy.Between both they turned up the volumn
of bright in our lives.I’m sure the comedian and his sidekick are entertaining God and His family in heaven.Still miss them after many years.Beautiful dedication to your beloved dog.
Thank you.❤️

Our Dear Barbara,

Your beautiful words have brought tears to our eyes.  Our little boys, were just like your Beloved two doggies, although, with them, our Beloved Nico was the caretaker of his Soulmate Cody.

As you say, after so many years you miss them, Linda and I will never recover from their loss.

Thank you so much for your heartfelt comment.

Love,
Linda and Larry xxx

Dear Linda and Larry,

Despite the pain at their passing we’re always lucky to have had them.God is generous.
I can still feel underneath my hand the big bones of the comedian’s head.The smaller one
used to tell where the kids were by barking very close to them when we played hide and seek
when they were little.Or try to jump on the toboggan barking as we all flew down hill.The
big one used to lop the head of tall flowers,or embarrass you by climbing 6ft. high snow
banks and pooping at the top.Or bark at you like it’s your fault after he fell off the sofa,
(wasn’t allowed) while in a dream.And he always had to have the last word.
These are just a few of the many memories we have of our fiercely loyal and true friends as do you I’m sure.And your Cody and Nico look happy and beautiful in their picture.And try
not to be too sad,sending you fat doggy kisses.????????❤️All the best

Our Dear Barbara,

What lovely memories you have, as do we.  It has been so hard to let go, because Nico and Cody were the nucleus of our lives.  Linda never had children (I'm her second husband), and these were our "little boys".  With Cody's passing, comes the end of an era, sixteen years of the greatest joys.  We have decided, that at this stage of our lives, we will just enjoy their treasured memories, feeling it is too late to start all over again with another pair.

Thank you for your encouraging and beautiful words.

Love,
Linda and Larry xxx

I understand more fully now why your both so completely devastated.None will ever replace
your precious boys.When the healing starts and it will you may want to consider fostering an
animal or volunteering to walk one.Of course only if you’re up to it.We have 2 cats.My son
found one in the middle of the street,the drivers beeping at it.He only weighed a pound,the
vet gave him a week.But he’s now just a tad over weight lol,and happy.The other a neighbor
brought to me,a bit of a street fighter, he is now civilized.lol.Sending you balm for your pain.
????????? Best to both of you always.❤️

Our Dear Barbara,

Just like the two pets that you now have, you are a really "Cool Cat"!  You have brought such joy to us with your beautiful letters, full of compassion and love.  We are turning over a new leaf now with any poetry that Larry writes about our boys, for instead of being morose, it is going to be humorous stories that we all lived through in our most joyous years together.

Again, we can't thank you enough, for all the time you have taken to send your heartfelt correspondence.

Love,
Linda and Larry xxx
