The innocence of a child

When I was boyÂ
I dream I marry Marilyn Monroe
And people would look at usÂ
Where ever we would go
When I was a boy
I dream that she kiss me
And I buy her a diamond earring
For the whole world to see
The Innocence of a child
The wonder of a dream
will last forever like the flowers in the fields
And the water in the stream
When I was a boy
I would wake late at night with my mother
watching dark shadows
And in the morning
I helped her in the kitchen
With coffee, roti and white eddoes
When I was a boyÂ
I use to go with my father in the garden
And he buy us bicyclesÂ
And My father would take us riding
When I was a boyÂ
I wish to be small forever
So I would aways beÂ
With my mother and father
But the dream of a child
Turn to the reality of a man
And I get olderÂ
Trying to stay small as long as I can
when the innocence of a child
gets lost in time
And the fear of uncertainty
Will overcome his mind
When I was a boy
I dream that I would do magic
And no matter how hard I try
I just couldn’t do it
When I was a boy
I use to play with my brothers
Now we are so farÂ
Spread out in four corners
When I was a boy
I dreamed I was crying
And it turn to reality
When my father and grandmother died
I miss my mother
I want to tell her that I m sorry
That I cannot be thereÂ
To spend more time with her
When I was a boy
My grandmother would make decorations
And for ChristmasÂ
She would buy us so many presents
I wish I was a boy again
Even just for a little while
and our home will be happy again
with the innocence of a child
but those days are gone
and never to back again
all that left is the memoriesÂ
as everything else will vanish in the wind
The Innocence of a child
The wonder of a dream
will last forever like the flowers in the fields
And the water in the stream
