The invisible girl
It started with her feet, turning white
It gave the girl quite the frightÂ
seeing her toes giving off lightÂ
It was truly a sight
for she had never seen something so brightÂ
A week passed, the translucency spreading
Her feet were gone and her legs were nextÂ
Her body veiled white for a weddingÂ
It left the girl quite perplexedÂ
A month passed, her fingertips paleÂ
She could not identify a single nailÂ
Soon the girl started to wailÂ
for her visit to the doctor was an utter failÂ
A year passed, her body lostÂ
Invisibility comes with a heavy cost
Her presence hidden in a coat of frostÂ
not knowing how it was caused
Â
It ended with her shadow, making its retreatÂ
Her reflection had long since ceased to compete
The invisible girl turned fully incompleteÂ
for this loss marked her defeat
School wasn’t easy, for an invisible girlÂ
Most days made her want to hurl
Classmates tend to talk behind your back
That’s no issue, won’t make her crackÂ
But it’s far worse when you actually hear
When you’re right thereÂ
While she can’t show it, she still feels itÂ
and while she can’t respond to it, she still hears itÂ
While her skin cannot be seen, it will still bleedÂ
and while her efforts go unnoticed, she still wants to succeedÂ
and despite her transparency,Â
she still yearns for clemency
and companyÂ
to fill the vacancyÂ
Is that greed?
Okay class, split into groups of three!
Remember kids, cooperation is key!Â
But teacher, what about me?
Oh right, nobody can see
