The Last Time

We rarely consider the last time:
The last bedtime story we were ever read,
The last time we shared a bath with a sibling.
The last sleepover.
 
We rarely consider these things
The Last Time seems so insignificant at the time
And passes without mentioning.
The last time we were sent to our room
 
By parents or the last time we
Were praised by a teacher at school.
Time goes by.
 
I don’t remember waking up
And thinking that watching children’s
Programmes was childish- and rejected them.
Times:  I can’t remember the first or last.
 
Although there must be a last time
I didn’t consider them at the time.
The very last time at the end of
 
A bedtime story that I heard the words
“And that is all for tonight”.
