The Light Of My Life

The Light Of My Life

Like a candle, maybe Roman, did they have in Rome?
To light up the room, to illuminate your home alone;
what a gift, my wife has it, others pale into insignificance,
magical quality, even a persona viewed from a distance.

Remember before - a bit dull, although we pretend don't we?
Everything was fine, no expectations, do as you please,
now there is treasure to protect, cosset so they say,
don't you know just how lucky you are - Abdul Bey?

Luck - the gift of protecting your private parts in advance,
some smartass said; 'Don't elaborate, it's just happenstance,'
no one gives you a bollocking, pressure thing of the past,
ironic,there is no guarantee that anything will really last.

That's it - take stock - time's running out mon ami,
how you managed your good fortune is still a mystery.
