The Limousine

There were ancient bones like dusted artifacts around my dog's house,

stood out like museum rejects, there were relics

of Tonka trucks unearthed

G.I Joes, cowboys and Indians that were killed

and buried, now rebirthed

What were those remains? Rex's prey?

Ugly beautified disarray

I looked up and saw her pretty face, in an ugly brown taxicab zipping by, full across my panoramic view like a birthday banner

No such thing has entered these parts before

Except that one Christmas afternoon when Uncle Lou's mad "Lady Marian" made a sudden arrival in an '89 Crown Vic cab to steal her Robin

Whisked him away and they spirited

He was beloved, ruled and curated

'Why can't I get that' rattled in my head and in trying to grasp such a concept with my idiosyncratic logic, I loved myself instead, with vices

Left to my devices

I nurtured my baby heart with anger and kissing the floor when I fell at her feet, declaring my lust

I loved her

And I hated her

For making me see a beautiful frame on her abstract Mona LisaΒ

Making me see a limousine and not an ugly cab that was surely a museum reject

The limousine that brought her into my lonely boy life

I'm still a lonely boy, digging up ancient bones

Thank you Tony! I'm glad this took you on a ride. In looking back at times like that, I pick up the hardest things to look for and try to make it easier to reflect on without "losing it". And yes I did have a dog named Rex.? Loved that dog. And the girl? Still has a place in my heart. Much love, brother!
