The Lotus

The Lotus

Is it time to let the lotus fly?
Unravelling from an initial bloom,
it will cascade through air,
as petals shed and smile
in shared memories of love.
Childhood dreams saw my
weddingย dress made of petals-ย
counting each recollection with knotsย
wrapped inย an embedded future, that leaves me slowly now.
The whispering bloom is fading
in sunken hues of white and pink,
as the falling silence entraps my body
in a solace of luxurious loss.
I left our lotus on the kitchen sillย
the hues shone in the sun
but time in its passing
has left it to rot,
filling the house with an empty sensation.

Because it's time to let the lotus go.ย

It's time to let the lotus flyย

As a lover of haiku and a published contemporary haiku poet, I feel the lovely lotus flower screams beauty matched only by its very simplicity.
You've done the lotus quite proud in this elegant and beautifully written poem, The Lotus author

Thank you Dean, the lotus in this poem serves as anย extendedย metaphor for a gentle dying love. Of my collections during the time this was written, this poem seems to tie up my experience the most.ย

Thank you dearย poet,ย
