The Lynx

A shadow upon
the soft wind
cast by the sun
passing through,
as the clouds
upon the mountain walls
the still mist of morn
and shining dew.
A solitary flow
coursing along withĀ
the wild river
and quiet stream,
stalking the yellow grass
along the sheer
precipice of sky
and the wrath of
a molten eye
that seethes,
in the slash and burn
of the beckoning
sacred trees.
And the claws thatĀ
scratch the cold stars
into the crimson dawn
in the fading moonlight
and the stillness of theĀ
HareĀ“s astonished eye
and a fondness for
feigned death,
as silence falls and
the wind holds its breath.

Such a brilliant poem of imagery, very clever for a nature write. Such an interesting and elegant animal, are they native where your based Tony? Either way smashing write. Best wishes. TFOTSĀ
Hi Fish of the Sea, thank you so much for your very kind words, much appreciated and heartwarming. Yes, the Iberian Lynx is native to where I am based but sadly these beautiful creatures are currently on the critically endangered species list. Hopefully the situation can be reversed. Thank you.
Wow ! awesome write! You captured the spirit of the mountains and this aloof beautiful creature! pinned for perfection as they say! well done! ........Jim
Hi Jim, hope you are very well dear literary friend. Thank you for commenting on my poem, I am thrilled to read your lovely words and motivated to write more, thank you so much!
Tony...wow!Ā Absolutely superb writing. I love this. Pinned to read again. And I will comment more again later...I just caught this before I have to pop out. Brilliant x
Okay, back now, so commenting a bit further because this poem deserves it.
I have been reading a lot of poems lately. Poems from well known writers and also various competition winners. What I don't understand is poems that seem to have no flow or rhythm. Some of these poems seem to be no different from an essay or a short story. All I can say is ...thank God your poem sings from the page. It is beautifully written. The surroundings and the cat spring clearly into the mind after reading your words.
I love this poem. I love the Lynx. This is very well done x
