THE MIRROR

THE MIRROR

I looked into the mirror

By chance, I happened to see

Lonely eyes were staring back

I couldn't believe that it was me

I saw a depth of sadness

Hidden behind her eyes

I couldn't tell if it was her or me

Wearing a disguise

She kept a smile on her face

But you knew something was awry

She tried to hide her loneliness

But her eyes could never lie

I thought, this can't be me

This can't be my reflection

You've got this all wrong

It's your misguided misperception

When you look into a mirror

Don't look into the eyes

It will show you your reflection

And see past your disguise
