~ The Moment Stealthy ~
"The simplest person, who in his integrity worships God, becomes God; yet for ever and ever the influx of this better and universal self... is new.... and unsearchable." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
The Moment Stealthy
Running through this rotting,
And just behind
This glowing face of health
Simmer thoughts
Held close to the vest
By sacred glue...
And flowing thickly through
This prism,
Of colorful misconstruction,
Are tiny outriggers
Of worry,
Whose wobbly oars
Barely skim
The muddy waters
Of his mind...
Hailing the shore
He reaches for the nurse's call button
And soothes,
His battle weary and scarred processes,
By sliding more morphine
Through the clear tubes
That litter,
His fog...
"Tonight I will dream
the long dark dream." he thinks.
When a familiar voice
Finds its way in
And,
"We Love you daddy."
Enters as smoothly
As the welcome warmth
Of the morphine...
He cannot see
Beyond his narrow band
Of black and gray shimmer,
But feels,
A single tear,
Moving its way from eye's corner
Across the cheek,
And come to dangle
Shakily,
From his cleft chin...
Inside,
He is falling...
He squeezes tightly,
The hand
Of someone he Love's (he believes)
When, a sudden
Burst,
Of light and memory
Redecorates
The entirety of his darkness,
As his hand
Falls
Away from its grasp
And
His awareness
Slips,
Slides,
Wiggles its way,
Quite Stealthily,
Into,
Eternity's,
Waiting,
Warmth...
