Poem -

THE NIGHT AND ME

THE NIGHT AND ME

Alone I sit under a starlit sky
My thoughts all drifting afar
Wondering of life on planets nearby
And wishing that I could fly

The sky is vast and stars uncountable
Who can call them by name
And with all of men's wisdom and knowledge
The heavens is revered and feared

Draw a little closer O distant star
Let your light penetrate my soul
Take me away from this corrupted world
Take me before I am stoned

I despised the air I breathe among men
Its toxicity dries out my bones
Surrounded by habitual liars and thieves
I was forced to leave my home

Now here I sit alone in the dark
Surrounded by billions of eyes
But your silence and beauty
Overwhelms my heart
To such I have no reply.
