The Night We Said Goodbye

As I looked across the water,
I could feel a gentle breeze.
I saw the scattered moonlight,
breaking brightly through the trees.
It was a night like any other night,Β
but no matter how hard I try,
I can't remember much about you,
apart from the night we said goodbye.

I felt the cold from the raindrops,Β  as they came falling to my feet.
I heard the echo of footsteps,Β  Β
as you went running down the street.
I didn't wipe the rain from off my face,
so you couldn't see me cry.
I can't remember much about you,
apart from the night we said goodbye.

I saw you walk into the darkness,
the pooring rain making me blind.
I saw you fade into the distance,
and you never looked behind.
I don't know why you couldn't turn around.
I guess you couldn't look me in the eye.
i wished that I remembered more
than the night we said goodbye.
