“The Death of temptation”

“The Death of temptation”
Got a itch that need a scratch,
its like a pestered gate, that wont latch
and still a burden in fact,
that haunts me
(to this day)
But its the games people play,
ones that could turn,
even a preacher, stray,
so i keep an eye kept open,
as I lay.
But for right now,
you and I'll,take a little trip,
from the flat valleys, to the white tips,
and from the Rockies, mountain high,
chances are, we'll walk on sky.
Need to tell you a little story,
of the dueling day,
temptation lost his glory,
he made his peace, paid his tab
and slithered his way down the UN-forsaken road.
Now around a quarter till three,
that's(am) you see,
only thing appeared active this night,
was my cab.
suddenly flagged down, by someone,
never before have I seen around,
this smooth talker, who seemed to have,
a gift for gab.
All dressed in black,
quick was he,
to harbor a seat in back,
and with a stare,
that wouldn't let go.
He had asked the time
but I, no not I,
would have bet a dime,
that for some designed reason,
he did already know.
“Any where in particular, “
my favorite klesha line,
being some what, of a sticular, to its reply.
He just smiled and stared,
apprehensively at the floor.
The time i replied,
was on the (3 o'clock) side,
wanna hop in,
grab a seat,
and kindly,shut the door?
So I gave him a little while,
as he fiddled with his watch dial,
stating,as he turned,
that this would be,
my lucky day.
Being quick, to reply with a smile,
clearly knowing, all the while,
that death,
had stumbled carelessly,
down my way.
So with a cross in hand and a constructed,
God given plan, brave was he,
as he asked me if, I was a wager,
with a quick turn in my seat,
was this demon already planning my defeat,
for this fight to night it seemed, would be major.
First he offered loafs of bread, wines and jars of sweet honey,
diamonds he'd unfold, with bars of pure gold
and mounds of much so, needed money,
all I need do was to agree.
I replied, all sound good, quite fine and dandy
but I never was one, to make a deal with the devil,
in order to save the whole flock,
so what will be, will definitely be..
so I pulled over to the road side,
eagerly displaying full pride,
in knowing that, God is my aviator,
and he yields to no defeat.
You see I stood fast to my faith
and with no, single need,
shall I falter, back down or flee,
and nor in his name, shall I be beat.
But when his fish wouldn't bite,
quite naturally and just out of spite,
his demeanor and self control,
became some what sour.
And just the sign that I would need,
for this is one property,
that he would claim no deed and in my corner,
rested all the power.
Deep, within the running rivers,
better known, as the rapid whites,
I surrendered to God my soul and salvation,.....
now do you really, wanna pick your fight.
Now when I took him on this ride,
there was a mention, of murder, some homicide,
though as he stated, “the smarter,”
“would have chose suicide,”
rather then stay,
And for sure,
(it was their choice),
when have fear no crying voice,
although, slim pickens was only offered,
on how they'd pay...
But you on the other hand,
have no faith,
nor give mercy to any man,
but rest a sure, yours will be tested,
by end of day.....
yea, that day was a good day,
it was when temptation lost its glory,
he made his peace, paid his tab
and quickly slithered his way down the road.
there's more to this story,
that one day will be told
so until we meet again,
I took pleasure In welcoming you,
to my little abode..
Jim

YAY JIM!!!!......where the heck have you been hidin' my friend!!?.......what a message you've delivered here in this most compelling narrative.......a compellingly powerful piece.....almost reads like parable ........a metaphor for faiths undeniable power when held truthfully and honestly in the heart of a person......I could almost put myself in the cab and feel the temptation going on......that picture you chose is from the film with Robert DeNiro......can't remember the name "Taxi Driver"? or something like that.....where he decides to protect the young prostitute and give up his life to do the right thing for her........your stuff is always intelligent from its conception to its delivery.....and this is no exception.......so happy to see you here man!!.......hope all is well with you.......ALL STARS.......your friend and admirer.........T xo
Tony, Tony,Tony,
Always the (key poet), to be able to pick a poem apart, weaving through the entire piece, thus leaving with the readers, its truest of meanings, through your ever-so (heart warming) comments..Hope all has been well my friend, trying to get right on my end and when i feel as though i am gaining ground, something (new), seems to place in front of me, another closed door..Thanks buddy for responding to this piece, i'm a little rusty, judging from the works of you and the rest, so hopefully once i've been here for a good minute are two, i can pull myself back up to par, although you poets/poetess are pumping out pure birdies on this site and all are a pleasure to be read....More important than the poem, i received word from (Deano) today and with those well missed sentiments, she sends to you all her endearing love.....I was beyond elated, to hear from her, just as i am sure you all will be, when this is read...A very strong lady and poetess and forever to be, a well missed friend.....Take Care T...................Jimmy
Queen Cherie,
Never the one to bring a smile, even to the face of a scrooge, you will prevail...Thank you for the spot on comment my friend and just as Tony, (you were and always has been), able to make, even a secret itself, give up its protected source, with her pleasure to read comments...Thank you as always Cherie and i wish to pass on the words of (Deano), to you all, adding that, "she miss you all and sends her love".....Jim
