THE OLDER YOU GET THE COLDER YOU GET

The problem with taking form
Is that when your suit is worn
It won’t be warm.
It can be torn
and the older you get
the colder you get.
The more you freeze
And feel the winds breeze is pushing you closer to death
but really,
the whole time it’s survival for breath.
because the whole time,
that pulse from your chest was keeping you alive to strive for the best
because the whole time, you were led to spread that you had to be something
and although you can be whatever you want, let me tell you one thing
-there’s no problem with being nothing.
You never had to be anything
in fact let’s stop pretending
That you weren’t born special
Or that you’ll die the same way
Your time here doesn’t have to be perfect but just try anyway
because each and every day
will feel worth the final bend Â
It’s Not an earthly reward but a heavenly end
So,
while you took this form to descend
It was a learning opportunity before going home again.

Hi Demetrius, I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed this poem. In a way, I found it very fascinating. I too feel that if sometimes, we all forget the most important things in life. "Life" - "to Live" the thing is, we are so lucky to be here, but not everyone cherishes that. An intriguing read!
