The Other Side

The Other Side

We had a seance using the moving glass,
lights dimmed, spooky as things came to pass;
we asked: 'Are you a good or a bad spirit?'
Fortunately good, no one was going to quit.

I asked my elder brother how he was getting on,
he said: 'Fine, we don't have nonsense now I'm gone,
we don't have a colour problem for a start, no aggro,
you're pathetic down there with your tales of woe.

'You will like it up here, you have your own room,
everything is 'light,' not so many tales of doom and gloom,
you can even lean on the bar counter like the old days,
spirits are not off-limits, it's funny but nobody pays.'

It all sounded just far too good to be really very true,
I'll think of my brother when I'm in the vaccination queue.
