The Other Whiskey Rebellion
The original Whiskey Rebellion, was in seventeen ninety-four;
When Colonists from western Pennsylvania, demanded to pay tax on it no more!
But there also was a second one, in nineteen forty-two;
At Fort Sill, Oklahoma, it’s tale I shall now tell you!
.
My Father there got stationed, after his basic training’s end;
Oklahoma was a dry state, no alcohol could they vend!
Somehow, he became a Staff Sergeant, after talking to the base C.O.;
He offered to bootleg whiskey, and to Texas would he go!
.
His partner was Broadway Johnny, from the New York City Mob;
Together they ran their business, liquor available by the gobs!
Both their orders never came through, to get shipped to overseas;
But the Colonels and the Generals, always had their taboo whiskies!
.
My Father had three brothers, who all were sent to foreign lands;
But he never left old Fort Sill, with the help of C.O.’s hands!
The dry state was circumvented, the booze was e’er aflow;
The Other Whiskey Rebellion, about which Historians little know!
