Poem -

The Owl And The Fairy

The Owl And The Fairy

Deep in the forest,
Now lost and alone.
Shivers a sad fairy,
So far from home.

How she cries,
Her endless tears.
For now its dark,
In a forest of fears.

She lifts her head,
And to her surprise.
Stands an owl,
So old and wise.

Come my child,
Lets get you home.
You've ventured far,
Your foolish roam.

I know the way,
Above the trees.
In this darkness,
I see with ease.

Hop on my back,
Please hold on tight.
And you'll be home,
By dawn's first light.

Your fairy kingdom,
Now awaits us below.
See your parents faces,
All relieved and aglow.

They'll teach you lessons,
And remember them well.
That there are dangers,
Beyond where you dwell.

I'm guardian of the forest,
Protecting one and all.
Whenever any need help,
I'll always hear their call.

Dedicated to Iris, Rachel and Neil.
This is your poem now Iris and to share with all your friends.

Greg I'm glad you enjoyed this one and thank you for I rewrote it in places and added the last verses for it never seemed to end just right on 'relieved and aglow'.
When it should really end on lessons to learn and about this guardian owl.
Thanks again and I'm off museum work for this weekend (thank heavens) and can play catch up on members poems and I'm off now to read your latest and catch up on your older poems.
And Greg thank you for ALL your uplifting moral support and for your friendship.
Never forgotten and always respected.
You friend, Shaun.

Marion thanks a bunch and glad you enjoyed it and as you say it's a little treasure and written for little treasures.
Be reading you tomorrow or I should say today, for it's 4.30 A.M here and  the whole neighbourhood is awake due to a car crash at the end of the street and blue flashing lights everywhere.
It's like bonfire night out there at present!!😊

Beautiful, magical read Shaun. I love a mystical poem. Fairies and nature conjure wonderful escapes for the mind. You definitely transported mine. The Owl has such a presence in nature, so fitting to be a guardian and observer. Thank you my friend for lulling my imagination for a moment. Most enjoyed🧚‍♀️x

Gwen many thanks and glad you enjoyed reading it and I think once owls in past poetry of the Middle Ages were once a bad omen the harbinger of doom and all that, then over time crows I believe took over that mantle.
I'm going round the mulberry bush with this reply, but suffice to say written for kids with a message to hopefully learn and abide by.
Thanks again my friend and will see and read your latest tomorrow night.

Although  perhaps intended for younger ones than I, this piece  quickly transports any reader of any age to a magical place where make believe is real and accessible! .It allows the reader  to divest themselves of the weighty existence of being ‘grown up’ and climb onto an owls back to  be flown aloft and free themselves  of the restrictions adulthood gives us....I love it Shaun! Thank you

Beautiful magical narrative...what you do best is to tell a story in rhyme. I totally got lost in reading this fairy piece. I love how the imagination can give you this and you write it and there is a lesson in it. Love. Pxx

Pratibha, thank you reading and for commenting on this fairy tale piece.
And yes, imagination can offer one and all and the lesson in life it offers.
Hope you didn't get too lost and eventually found your way home.
Take care my friend and wish you and your family all the good things in life.
