~ The Saddened Shores Of Insignificance ~
In the throat of the lobster
I spy a clinic full of cynics
Fishing just off shore
Who, in their unique indiscretions
Find the depths of so much more
Than the old tin soldiers
Had ever netted before...
The town, a grayness
(in its submerged desperation)
As grievous fisherman
Seeking oyster beds
With open faced, virginal, intent,
Usurping the good from the most evil
Of crawling, lobster bellied, bullshit
Served through bittersweet bait shops
Along these, the saddened shores
Of insignificance
Where that clinic full of cynics
Had gone diving
Into the throat of the lobster
Most willingly....
I sighed,
As I realized
My time
Had not yet
Passed me by.
I smiled,
And cast out
A net so large
As to choke
Even the heartiest
Of seekers,
My own time would come
Eventually,
But I,
Would not settle
For lobster,
No,
Not I....

Since I am in a rush, I think the simplest & the quickest thing for me to say here, is that this is quite possibly my favourite Tony T to date .. that opening stanza is amazing sir and sets the pace throughout ..
Loadsa rock etts and a smattering of stars I leave here for thee Tony T :)
Your hastiness has left me smiling dear poet brother.....for it is indeed the most poetic of comments!!....YOU....my friend.....are an artist!!....smiles.....T xo : )
We can trawl life with either cynicism or optimism finding either beauty or ugliness in our catch. Maybe the meaning of life is exactly that...always striving to see the beauty, instinctively trusting it is there. Inner peace and purpose is probably found in the last option but for most of us mere mortals the catch is often inedible and we go hungry....maybe failing to notice that sustenance is often there even if only in the bones of a bad catch...should we look. I, myself come under the last category these days whereas you...you have found the beauty Tony and it shines from your words. Course I could have interpreted this all wrong...if so apologies...amazing wite Tony X
I am ever so grateful Marion!!....you seem to have found the inner truth of your own path in this life....you have certainly pegged me to the wall in your understanding of a Tony write!!....I am so pleased to find that you understand the heart of my intent!!.....for you are very much on target with your impressions on this piece!!......and I am most grateful that my words have found a soft place to land........I remain your ever-poet friend and admirer!!......lots of love!!.......your ever-friend!!......T xo : )

To stride beyond that what we are conditioned to believe in. To seek far greater than greatness. I sense an urge inside the soul here. An awareness of ones place in time and space, and to not want to waste another moment. To not fear reaching further across the fringe of this reality and find true depth of understanding and value of life and it’s meaning. Loved how you used the lobster and vast ocean for your imagery in this. There is a cold dark stark truth in the layers of this write. That should make any reader question their own searching and if indeed it is a search true to them or simply a conditioned response to a life directed and disciplined into them. May you find more than Lobster dear T 😉 xx
and that is of course is just my take on reading this FAB write 😁 xx
GWEN!!.......I am so very happy to KNOW that you understand my intent...not only in its immediacy.....but in its long-term approach to understanding this life as a whole.......there are few that KNOW me.... and... can read between the lines of the obvious sneakiness of a TONY piece....I am ever so grateful just to know you.....yours is a most perfect understanding of the 'screwy" nature of my inherited drive for truth and comprehension!!.....You ROCK dear Gwen!!.....I am at your beck and call!!......Lots of smiles......major hugs......T xo : )
