I didn't know if it was the kindness
Or the love I felt in someone's smile
I just knew I some how mattered
Even if it was for a little while
Some people have that awareness
Of your lost child still hiding out
Still feeling unloved, forgotten
Still feeling uncared about
It's not so much the attention
It's the need for love and the want for more
The feeling of connectedness
That I never felt before
It was the need to be seen, be heard
To feel the hug in someone's smile
