The Seed

The Seed

I wrestle with the seed sown in me
I’m lost in the world’s grudge with me
My entire life has been tied to what I was taught
to build bridges where there is not
to brighten the corner I am
I was raised to raise stars when they fall

I was told to sacrifice as Jesus did
and carry my lamp like Florence Nightingale
My mother taught me well
She said β€œJohn go out there and change the world”
How can it be when I’m convinced it won’t be?
How do I change a world that won’t change?
I’m pelted with stones when I try plucking fruits
They send guns after me for having a voice
I’m tired and wish to retire
but my entire life is what I was taught
I wrestle with the seed sown in me
I’m lost in the world’s grudge with me

Nice work.
After nearly seven decades on this rock, I finally realized it’s best to keep it all at arms length.Β
