Poem -

The severance

The severance

In the fading light
Of a forgotten dream
I see your face
And down one cheek
A tear falls gently
Caressing your skin
With the pain of loss
And I reach to you
But you're too far away

As the sun grows ever dimmer
I reach for you imploring
To hold onto my hand
I won't leave you
I'll be your crutch
I'll fight your cause
But you're too far away
My calls drown in an empty sky
Your shadow fades

I am alone now
A tear falls gently down my cheek
Caressing my skin
With the pain of loss
I'm saying goodbye
It hurts the very core of my being
I have to say goodbye my dear
Though I know in my heart
You've already gone
